A Leaving The swifts have left, for homes where seasons blend together; ink on wet paper. Crispness flushes the faltering grass, spreads over heather, hangs like mist. The earth is alive, ready to fold itself inwards and quietly resist.
Elisabeth Kelly is a mother, educator and poet. She lives on a hill farm in the Scottish Borders with too many animals.
