Phonebooth Graveyard


Below the railroad tracks,

beneath the syntax of the city,

rows of receivers hang their heads,

mourning street corner calls,


all words now obsolete; naked and tangled

as the night which ticks on underneath the stars.



Claire Louise Hunt is a senior bookseller in Waterstones, Carlisle, who is currently on furlough. She has an MA in Creative Writing from the University of Northumbria and has recently had work included in the Ver Poetry Prize 2020.
